Felix Health launches sleep apnea care through new collaboration with MedSleep

TORONTO, Aug. 24, 2026 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- As new treatment options bring growing attention to the connection between sleep apnea, obesity and metabolic health, Felix today announced the launch of sleep apnea care, including a new collaboration with MedSleep to help patients access assessment and care across Ontario, British Columbia and Alberta. Felix plans to expand the offering into other provinces in the fall.

Through the offering, Felix healthcare providers can connect appropriate patients with local sleep clinics for a sleep apnea assessment, consultation for a sleep study or review of existing treatment. Sleep-clinic patients interested in exploring new, medically supervised, evidence-based treatment options for obstructive sleep apnea can, in turn, access personalized care through Felix, following a clinical assessment to confirm the treatment is appropriate for them.

Sleep clinics remain responsible for diagnosing and managing sleep apnea, while Felix healthcare providers assess and manage appropriate treatment that may form part of a patient’s broader sleep apnea care.

A changing treatment landscape

The collaboration comes as treatment options for sleep apnea continue to grow, bringing greater attention to how sleep health, obesity and medical weight management intersect. New approaches are expanding the range of options available to patients alongside established treatments such as CPAP.

"Obstructive sleep apnea is not exclusive to people with obesity — it's a complex condition with multiple contributing factors, and treatment is individualized," said Dr. Kelly Anderson, Chief Medical Officer, Felix. "Weight loss may reduce severity for some patients, but patients should not change or discontinue prescribed CPAP or other sleep apnea treatment without appropriate clinical reassessment and, where indicated, repeat testing. CPAP remains an important and effective treatment for many patients. Medical weight management, medication, oral devices and other options may also play a role depending on the individual."

Addressing access barriers

More than one in four Canadian adults have reported symptoms and risk factors associated with a high risk of obstructive sleep apnea, while only 3% reported having been diagnosed with sleep apnea by a health professional.

Accessing a sleep apnea assessment often requires a physician or nurse-practitioner referral, depending on the province, and waits for diagnostic assessment can extend for up to a year in some parts of Canada. At the same time, more than 5 million Canadian adults did not have access to a regular health care provider in 2024. For patients without a regular primary-care provider, that can create an additional hurdle. Where clinically appropriate and provincially permitted, a Felix healthcare provider can help facilitate that referral, helping patients navigate the next step toward appropriate sleep assessment and care.

The expanded offering will be available beginning August 24, 2026 in Ontario, British Columbia and Alberta.
